1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. We also use similar technologies such as local storage to remember your session and your preferences. In this policy, cookies means all of them.

2. The categories we use

• Essential: signing you in, keeping your session valid, protecting against unauthorised access, and remembering small interface choices. The app cannot work properly without these.
• Analytics: measuring aggregate usage, such as which pages and features are used and roughly how many people visit, so we can improve the app. We use Google Analytics for this.
• Advertising: none. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking on the app.

3. What is stored and for how long

• Authentication session token: keeps you signed in between page loads. Lasts for your session, or longer depending on the sign-in method you chose.
• Authentication provider cookies: set during third-party sign-in (for example the Google sign-in flow) to complete the sign-in securely. Session length.
• Analytics identifiers: distinguish one visit from another and measure usage patterns. Set for up to two years, and reset when you return.
• Local storage preferences: small values such as interface state, kept in your browser until you clear your browser data.

4. How to control cookies

• Every major browser lets you block, delete or be warned about cookies in its privacy settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in and using the app.
• You can install the browser add-on offered by Google to prevent your data being used by Google Analytics.
• In private or incognito mode, cookies are deleted when you close the window.
• Clearing site data signs you out and resets any stored preferences.

5. Changes to this policy

If we change the cookies we use, we will update this policy and change the date at the top. How we handle personal data more generally is described in the Privacy Policy.
